Lafayette Band

 
 

Mr. Todd Chamberlain is the Director of Bands at Morton Middle School.  Mr. Chamberlain is entering his 15th year as a band director. A 1991 graduate of Henderson Co. HS, he studied horn at the University of Kentucky with David Elliott while earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumental Music Education in 1995. Mr. Chamberlain earned a MS in Music Education from Southern Oregon University in 2002 as part of the American Band College. He is the principal horn player for the Central Kentucky Concert Band, an adult community band in Lexington. Mr. Chamberlain most recently was Assistant Director of Bands at Henry Clay High School, after spending five years as band director at East Jessamine High and Middle Schools. He previously held positions as band director at Harrodsburg High School and Louisville Southern High School. He lives in Lexington with his wife, Cindy (a reading teacher at Landsdowne Elementary), and their 2 year old son, Bratcher.

Dr. Terry Magee assists with the 7th and 8th grade advanced band.  Dr. Terry Magee is the Associate Director of Bands at Lafayette High School, a position he has held for eighteen years. Dr. Magee has served as a graduate teaching associate at the University of South Carolina and for nine years was Professor of Low Brass and Marching Band director at Newberry College in South Carolina.

His education includes a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Morehead State University, a Master of Music degree from Michigan State University and a Doctorate of Musical Arts in euphonium performance from the University of South Carolina. While attending these institutions, he studied euphonium with Leonard Falcone, Earle Louder, Bob Jorgenson, and Ronald Davis.

Dr. Magee has been a featured soloist at the KMEA in-service Conference and the Mid-West Band and Orchestra Clinic. He was selected as the 2002 High School Music Teacher of the Year for his district and was awarded the National Band Association Certificate of Merit for Marching Excellence.
 

Mr. Jason Gibson is in his second year as the Assistant Band Director at Morton Middle School.  He is also the band director at Glendover Elementary and Arlington Elementary.  He received his Bachelors of Music Education degree from Western Kentucky University in 2006 and completed  his Masters in Music Education at WKU in 2008.  Mr. Gibson is a euphonium player and a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity.  He lives in Lexington with his wife Jessica.
