     BookFlix

Try this colorful, exciting way to read books online.  BookFlix can be accessed either at school or home.  This is available through a collaborative effort between the Lexington Public Library and our schools. Anyone who has a LPL library card and enter it via that.  You just need to know your library card number and pin number (last four digits of your home phone number).

      Breakfast Book Club

MCj02337560000[1]  Would you enjoy the opportunity to gather with friends and classmates for breakfast at school once per month? All that’s required is your willingness to share with others about the book you’re currently reading. That’s it! Just bring the book of your choice and arrive anytime between 8:00 and 8:40 a.m. Beginning in October, we’ll gather in the library on the fourth Friday of each month; breakfast will be provided. It’s a great way to start the day and to get ideas for future reading as well!

All participants receive Extra Credit points from their Language Arts teachers, and those students who attend over half of the BBC gatherings throughout the school year are invited to a special end-of-the-year gathering...

Morton/Cassidy Study BuddiesWelcome to Cassidy Elementary School

Would you be interested in working with younger children at least one day per week? Do you enjoy assisting teachers in various ways inside the classroom? Then our Morton/Cassidy Study Buddy Program might be for you!

Our Morton Mustangs have developed a fabulous relationship/reputation with Cassidy Elementary over the years, and this program just continues to grow and grow!

Because the school day begins earlier for Cassidy than for Morton, our students are able to sign-up to work at Cassidy in various capacities from 8 - 8:50 a.m. in the morning. You might read with a student one-on-one, you might give make-up spelling tests, you might even assist the teacher with organizational tasks. The work you would do is based on what the assigned teacher needs. You can even request a particular teacher! All that's needed is a willingness to be of help on your part, transportation to Cassidy by 8 a.m. on your assigned day (you pick the day), and acceptable grades and conduct at Morton.

Mrs. Ziegler, our Literacy Specialist, and Mrs. Carpenter, our School Librarian, are the sponsors for this program. We'll be having an informational meeting sometime during August once school begins. It's such a fun way to build self-confidence and leadership skills while performing community service and developing/continuing relationships at Cassidy. We're looking forward to another great year of service to our neighbors!!!
