How a Federal Bill Becomes a Law
A federal bill goes through many steps before becoming a law, this is a scenario for the House of Representatives. First, the bill is introduced in the House. Then it goes to the House special committee. If it passes the committee, then it goes back to the House for approval. Then it gets sent to the Senate, and a Senate committee. If it is passed without changes to either bill, then it goes on to the president for passage or to be vetoed. If changes are made to the bill, then the bill goes back to the House, and both the House and Senate compromise.
